...about food...
"You look at a crowded dinner table and you can see what's
going on from what people are eating, the way they hold their forks,
what they're saying and what they're not saying. Then you can look
under the table and see what they're doing with their feet. It's the
same thing with a song. It's creating an experience for someone to
step into."

"The self is an endless vat of soup. That minestrone does not
stop. You can change soups and the kettle keeps on boiling."

"I’m a musician first, a
food-lover second, a dirty mouth with feet, and a girl the last time I checked."

"I am garlic personified. Garlic and extra virgin olive oil.
Garlic is garlic. You don't want it in ice cream, but you definately
want it when there are vampires around."

"I think
that there is a lot of gushy mushy heart in my stuff, albeit it
might be dripping with blood and mucus and maybe some chocolate,
like our friend Elvis."
...
"It's like, the other guy may have peanut butter and jelly, but
you're the one with chocolate chip cookies. There's a balance
there."

"You're only popular with anorexia..."
I: "You have a reference to anorexia in one song. Is this something that concerns you? How often do you think about food?"
T: "Every waking second!!! I know exactly what I'm having for dinner tonight. I know that for
lunch I'm having a Caesar. I swear to Christ. I have a personal trainer. I realize that food could be a black hole for me. I try to be aware it. I have small portions and only eat two meals a day, because I do love it. Regarding the anorexia comment: There is anorexia of the soul. There's anorexia on many levels and I think a lot of people have this internal starvation and that's really what that line is about. Plus, externally, our culture has a strange fascination with women that are so tiny. And I think women are more fascinated with it than men. The guys on my crew are like. "I don't want that bag of bones. I want something to grab, sister!" But I watch the way women look at other women. I see my niece. I see so many young women starting to just not eat because they want to be popular. And yet there are other people who have to eat because inside they feel like they weigh two pounds. Their little heart is so skinny. They think that their soul is only this big [holds thumb and index finger close together]. We don't glamorize obesity. We don't find that attractive. But we really love denial, don't we? We love people who deny themselves these things. It's a bit gross. Even I become fascinated with it. That's a bit off!"

"The desire of blood..."
I: "Did you ever want to be a vegan?"
T: "I respect people that have that discipline and understand the choice, but I am lioness and sometimes the desire for
blood is just too great. BUT, I applaud those that make that choice.
I do think, if you are going to eat meat or anything with a head on it, then it is important that the creature is treated with respect while they are alive.
And that is a huge problem that we like it or not we have to address and we are being foreced to address it, all of us.
I think over the next 10 years a change, becuase of necessity as opposed to conscienceness."

"I like to settle our differences at a table over a nice cup of
green tea, but if it can’t happen that way, then I’ll go for your jugular and have your blood for lunch and put a little salt on it. I’ll put my lip gloss on and go shopping. At the end of the day, I’m a lioness."
